Drawn by Lines - Introducing Mark
From classic lines on a longboard, to pencil lines on paper, to lines of light through a lens, Mark is a creative human we’re genuinely stoked to welcome to the club.
We first met Mark just before the pandemic in Bali, spending time surfing along the island’s west coast and hanging out before he headed back to Canada for a while. When he returned to the shores of Canggu a few years later, it was a joy to reconnect. Humble and easy-going, Mark is a pleasure to be around - both in and out of the water. His effortless longboard style is a beautiful thing to watch, and we’ve shared countless mornings trading peelers at Batu Bolong, followed by coffee at Times Beach Warung. If Mark’s in town, this is where you’ll likely find him - and he might just be the most loyal surfer that wave has seen.
Originally from Southern Ontario, Canada, Mark is now based full time in Bali. He’s been surfing for around five years, first learning in Sri Lanka during his early travels. Surfing quickly became his thing, settling into a simple rhythm of early alarms, coffee fuelled surf checks, and steady progression on a rental board in warm tropical waves.
Surfing now sits at the centre of Mark’s life. It fuels his creativity, supports both mind and body, and deepens meaningful friendships. Naturally, it’s been a transformative force. Paddling out at sunrise has become a daily ritual, bringing moments of pure bliss and igniting the hunger for the next day’s surf.
When it comes to a favourite wave, it’s his home break in Bali. More than the wave itself, it’s the community around it that leaves the strongest impression. In Mark’s own words, you’re bound to have a good time when you’re surrounded by friendly, encouraging people who are just as stoked as you are.
Beyond the surf, Mark’s creativity continues through photography, with a focus on documentary, street, and travel work. He’s built up an impressive collection of photography books that he regularly turns to for inspiration. His images carry a timeless, classic feel, leaning into soft, filmic tones. Influenced early on by photographers like Sebastião Salgado and Steve McCurry, Mark loves to travel with a camera, whether on the busy streets of Bangkok or the quiet winding roads of Sri Lanka - he’s usually carrying two or three cameras at all times. Check out some of his photos below.

As if that wasn’t enough, Mark’s creative practice also extends to drawing, working primarily with charcoal and pencil - almost always surf inspired. For some time now, he’s been creating a series of “tiny surf drawings” that we absolutely love, and more recently, he’s begun work on his first larger piece. We definitely to hang a few on our walls, and feel free to reach out to Mark if you do too!
