New to the Club - Ocean Earthling Tara
On a recent trip to Sri Lanka, we had the pleasure of meeting Tara, a radiant and warm-hearted earthling who resides along the southern shoreline. After a few back-and-forth chats on the phone prior to our trip, we finally met during a slow morning surf in Weligama. Her friendly nature and quirky humor went down a treat, and we instantly clicked, knowing she would fit perfectly into the club.
Born and raised in Thailand, Tara splits her time living between Thailand and the south coast of Sri Lanka - two locations that share similarities in the form of tropical weather, palm-lined beaches, and friendly longboard waves, yet differ in plenty of ways that make dividing time between the two feel fresh and exciting.
Growing up on the beaches of Thailand, Tara was a water being from the get-go, spending as much time underwater freediving as she did above it. This innate connection with the ocean later developed into a love for surfing. Tara first learnt to surf three years ago in Arugam Bay, taking to it quicker than most and surfing alone confidently only a couple of months later. Growing up on an island with no surf, her newfound love for surfing offered another way to interact with the ocean and play. For Tara, surfing is deeply grounding and where she feels at her best and most capable.

When it comes to surf spots, you’ll likely see Tara elegantly navigating a wave at Marshmallow in Ahangama, though there are plenty of other lesser-known spots she loves to surf in the right conditions.
Outside of surfing, Tara leads a wholesome and healthy lifestyle, spending plenty of time reading and practicing yoga, as well as watching surf videos or a fantasy series or two on Netflix.
Welcome to the club, Tara.
